Happy bookworms raise their new story books from Vibal Publishing Inc. during the National Children’s Book Reading Day event at SM City Baliwag.

With eyes filled with excitement, over 500 grade school students joined the book-based storytelling session at SM City Marilao and SM City Baliwag in celebration of the National Children’s Book Reading Day Celebration.

The activity featured three different books from Vibal Publishing, Inc. presented in vivid illustrations and a character role playing to make the experience more fun for the kids. Guest storytellers were likewise invited to bring the stories to life as they share value-laden stories to students aged 6-9.

Kicking off the three-part storytelling activity was the reading of Jamie Bauza’s “Sandwich to the Moon”, an inspiring story of a small country full of silly people and how their optimism, teamwork and creativity led them in the realization of their dreams Meanwhile, kids were able to learn about money management and importance of saving as BDO Foundation Representatives read Becky Santos-Gerodias’ “Arroz Caldo ni Lolo Waldo”.

The reading of Russell Molina’s “Hayan na si Kidlat”, staged with a puppet show surely made the youngsters enjoy the wonderful world of literature while learning the importance of not skipping breakfast.

As an added treat, kiddie participants were also given freebies, loot bags and children’s books from Vibal Publishing Inc.

The event was also highlighted with the launching of SM’s Donate A Book Campaign which aims to solicit books and other reading materials from mall tenants, publishing houses, book lovers, and generous shoppers for the benefit of many underprivileged children and youth. In collaboration with the Department of Education, collected books will be distributed to selected public schools and barangay libraries. Donate A Book Booths are located at the event centers of SM City Baliwag and SM City Marilao which will run until July 31.
