National Congress on Environmental Sustainability: The Freshest Event to Protect the Environment


The National Congress on Environmental Sustainability is a whole-day event organized by the UP Club for the Environment and Tourism, composed of different symposia relevant to environmental sustainability, seeking to provide a platform for the youth to take part in building a sustainable environment for the next generations.

Esteemed experts from different fields will also be gracing the event. Among them are Rodne Galicha, Country Manager of the Climate Reality Project Philippines, to talk about Climate Change; Mark Evidente, President of TwoEco, Inc., to tackle Environmental Sustainability; John Algo, Science Policy Officer at the Climate Reality Project to speak about Environmental Sustainability and the Youth; and Louie Mencias, Training Director at Blue Water Consistency to talk about Environmental Sustainability and Tourism.

It also features Domestikwhiz, an inter-university quiz bee held to promote domestic tourism and to foster camaraderie among college students. Serving as panelists for the quiz bee are Dr. Cherry Ringor, Deputy Director for Academic Affairs and Associate Professor at the UP Institute of Environmental Science and Meteorology, Ernesto Sonido Jr., STS (Science, Technology, and Society) Lecturer at the UP College of Science, and Charmielyn Cabigas-Sy, Instructor at the UP Asian Institute of Tourism.

NCES 2019 will be held on February 23, 2019 (Saturday) from 8 AM to 5 PM at the School of Statistics Auditorium, UP Diliman. Registration is still ongoing and is open to all students and guests from across the country. This event is in collaboration with the UP Office of Initiatives for Culture and the Arts and Streets for Schools.
