SM Supermalls Launched Eco Bags

The Ecobags are now being sold at SM malls for only P35.
SM Supermalls takes another green leap to help address the environmental crisis with the launch of the 2010 ECO BAGS at all SM malls including the SM City Baliwag and SM City Marilao in Bulacan.

At SM Baliwag, the program proper preceded with inspirational messages from Community Environment and Natural Resources Officer Mr. Meliton Vicente and SM Baliwag's Asst. Mall Manager, Arch. Andrew Cristobal. The grand reveal of the new eco-friendly bags was highlighted with a ribbon-cutting ceremony followed by a one-of-a kind ramp show where models showcased the multifunctional form of the bags.

The launch was made lively by an exuberant performance in honor of Mother Earth from Talentadong Pinoy's Campus Avenue dancers and GMA 7's Diz Iz It! Champion Lara Lavina Bayani.

Andrew Cristobal, CENRO's Ms. Cynthia Sagum together with the School Heads of St. Mary's College, PBC Sunbeam, St. Paul College and Sanctuario de Sta. Maria School.
At SM City Marilao, Bulacan District IV Congresswoman Linabelle Villarica led the opening rites together with Marilao Councilor Alan Aguilar, Barangay Ibayo Capt. Evelyn Agno, and Bulacan PENRO and CENRO Guiguinto representatives. Day Care students and performers from STI joined the much-awaited celebration.

The 2010 SM Supermalls Eco Bags come in exclusive designs which feature the elements of earth, water, air and fire. The reusable shopping bag is made of 100% polypropylene hard-wearing, non-woven fabric and comes in four striking colors -- orange, light blue, cream beige, and royal blue.

Spearheaded by SM Cares' Environment Committee, the eco bag project aims to raise the consumers’ environmental consciousness to make positive changes that will have a lasting effect on our planet. It involves changing our shopping habits through the responsible use of reusable shopping bags.

Students from St. Paul College San Rafael, St. Mary's College Baliuag, Sanctuario de Sta. Maria School, PBC Sunbeam and The Little Northbend Campus were full support during the unveiling of the 2010 SM Supermalls Eco Bag Launch at SM Baliwag's Event Center.
SM Supermalls introduced its first line of green bags over one year ago to give shoppers an alternative to plastic grocery bags. Paintings by prominent Filipino artist Manuel Baldemor were printed on the bags and were an astounding success with close to 1.5 million sold. The popularity of the bags even spanned borders, and can still be spotted in many other countries around the world such as Italy, Spain, France, Greece, and in cities across the USA and Asia.

The hip new Ecobags can now be purchased for just P35.00 in all SM Supermalls nationwide. The polypropylene material is even durable enough to last up to two years of weekly use, so the youth can show off their support to save the earth anywhere they go. And while making a fashionable statement, they really will be helping out, as a portion of the proceeds from every bag purchased will be for the benefit of an environmental cause.

SM’s environmental endeavor will make stylish shopping an eco-friendly experience.

  8. Why does SM hires a person who's hobby is to destroy her colleague's reputation even one's personal relationship with their friends and families...so sad because this person is actually who dresses in white but with a very dark personality...she's now actually destroying every people not only in her branch but to other branches as well...a health care personnel should be spreading peace and love not the other way around. To SM Mall Management please be aware of this person because she may jeopardize or destroy the whole company because of her nonsense doings and stories...

  9. I hope SM will continue to make this advocacy and I hope the consumers as well. It really makes a difference if we avoid using plastic bags especially that the earth needs proper care from all the wastes that man has made. Let us do our share, little by little and lets start using eco bags.
