“Manny, Many Prizes!”

Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao gives out cash, car, house and lot in his first game show on GMA-7

Pound-for-pound king and Saranggani Province Representative Manny 'Pacman' Pacquiao takes a break at giving punches to give away cash, cars and houses in “Manny, Many Prizes!”, a game show he co-produces with television giant GMA Network.

Manny, Many Prizes!, which airs every Saturday evening beginning tonight (July 16), is the brainchild of the boxing champ himself.

''The concept of the show, its title and even the theme song were Manny's idea. He really wanted to come up with a game show, which is not only fun but could also be used as an avenue to help his fellowmen, especially the poor,'' reveals Wilma Galvante, GMA SVP for Entertainment TV during the show's press conference.

Manny Pacquiao's affinity with the poor is no surprise at all. Before he became a multi-million dollar boxer, he and his family had experienced the hardships of life. At an early age of fourteen, Manny Pacquiao had to leave home to try his luck in Manila. He had hoped to earn a living to help his mom make ends meet. Thanks to his boxing skills and indefatigable spirit, he was catapulted to his present stature, and the rest became history. But despite his fame, wealth and power, he has not forgotten his roots.

''In this game show, I'm not particularly concerned with competition (with other game shows) because my only intention is to help my fellow Filipinos. And I am glad that GMA Network gave me this opportunity to do so,'' shared Pacquiao.

''Once there are no more Filipinos needing my help, then I will consider my job done. But for as long as there are, I will be here to help them,'' he vows. Pacquiao is joined by kapuso stars Paolo Contis, Gladys Guevarra, Rhian Ramos, Isabelle Daza and Onyok Velasco as segment hosts.

Manny, Many Prizes will air its pilot episode live from the AFP Theater in Quezon City tonight at 6pm on GMA 7.
