#SunShorts: A Collection of Short Digital Films Featuring Stories of Love, Hope & Commitment

Sun Life Financial Philippines recently uploaded the first of three digital short films dubbed as SUN SHORTS 2, a new collection of brief movies featuring stories of love, hope and commitment inspired by Sun Life Financial's own clients' stories.

Sun Life Financial is the first and longest standing life insurer in the Philippines. Sun Life Financial in the Philippines offers a wide spectrum of products that include Life Insurance, Accidental Insurance, and Mutual Funds. Sun Life Financial Philippines is represented in the country by its life insurance arm, Sun Life of Canada (Philippines); its mutual fund manager, Sun Life Asset Management Company Inc; and its pre-need business distributor, Sun Life Financial Plans Inc.

The first digital film entitled "WAVES," directed by Zig Marasigan gives a peek into the hearts and mindset of millennials. Marco is a surfing instructor who lives a carefree life, until he falls in love with Amanda. Will the waves bring them closer together or will it take Marco away from Amanda?

Can a love be strong enough to endure the currents of life? The "WAVES" video was just uploaded on June 7, but already accumulated 2.2M+ views as of this writing. Not really surprising because Filipinos loved all the feels this short film have. The movie will make you feel kilig, love, scared, sad and even courageous.

As a millennial this video affected me on a personal level. As the saying goes, "hope for the best and prepare for the worst" nothing beats a well-planned life and getting a life insurance is one way to be prepared.

Though millennials have this "happy go lucky" image in general, this video just proves otherwise. Marco thinks of his future with Amanda and got insured so when the unforeseen happened, his love ones will still have something to get to start their life all over. For me, that's true love.

I specially adore the cinematography and the texture of this short movie. It looks like an ad for a tourism campaign. Though I'm not really surprised by the quality of the movie, since films from Sun Shorts 1 was critically-acclaimed here and abroad. Some even bagged coveted local and international awards. WAVES is one well though-out movie. The film doesn't have that much speaking lines but the good acting makes up for it.

Many Filipinos could relate to the story of Amanda & Marco. Married or not, people who are in relationship should think of their future by being insured. Other couples would think that they are too young to get a life insurance but they didn't realize that planning your life early is the first step for a worry-free life. As I grew older, I realized that life insurance was indispensable and fundamental to a sound financial plan. Over the years, life insurance will give you a peace of mind knowing that money would be available to protect your loved ones.

Getting an insurance is a big step to a well-prepared life but choosing the right company is the tricky part. To be sure, pick a company that has a good track record. The right life insurer for you is the one that provides you with appropriate recommendations, products and prices, has a record of outstanding customer service, and the financial capacity to meet its financial obligations to you and your beneficiaries when they come due.

We all know why this film was made but I like advertising in a subtle way, something you could watch over and over again without being annoyed. I'm glad how advertisements are evolving in a positive way for the benefits of the consumers.

The 2nd digital film of SUN SHORTS 2 entitled "SHE SAID, SHE SAID" will premiere on June 14 and "SAYAW" will premiere on June 21. This upcoming digital short films will be uploaded on facebook.com/sunlifeph so be sure to follow their Facebook page.
