Shoe Review: TEVA “TevaSphere” Speed
I'm starting to love running now and I enjoy joining weekend marathon. It not just help me achieve my desired weight, it also keeps my heart and body healthy! I'm proud to say that I can run 10K in just an hour & 15 minutes now! Though this is still slow compare to others, I'm improving compared to my previous 10K runs.
One way to enjoy fun runs is to be equipped with good shoes. Wearing the right running shoes will keep your feet in tiptop shape and the recovery time after each run would be minimal.
Though some shoe brand will cost you an arm and a leg, buying one is considered an investment by others, especially if you want to be serious in running. I'm on the lookout for a great running shoes without costing too much when I discovered TEVA (that's "teh'-vah," not "tee-vah.") TEVA is from the same company that brought us Sanuk --Deckers Corporation. TEVA's TevaSphere debuted in the Philippines last May 2013. The Primer Group of Companies, Asia’s next retail giant, is the exclusive distributor of Teva in the Philippines.
TEVASPHERE Technology
TevaSphere features a patent-pending spherical heel and pod-arch system that delivers a more natural point of impact, efficient transition and phenomenal stability. The pod-arch support provides further stability with specific point-of-contact support only where it’s needed, without restricting movement or adding unnecessary weight to the shoe. The spherical heel lowers the user’s point of contact with the terrain for a more natural point of impact and more efficient transition. This stands in stark contrast to the built-up, squared-off heels and over-cushioned insoles of other athletic shoes.
TevaSphere technology provides a solution by offering users the benefits of natural movement, without sacrificing stability. “The majority of consumers continue to land on their heels whether running or walking,” said Chris Hillyer, Innovation Manager at Teva. “We felt compelled to create a technology that allows people to transition through their stride in a natural way without expecting the consumer to change.” In a TevaSphere shoe, the heel is 24 mm from the terrain, compared with an average 40 mm in a square foam heel, creating more stability for the user.
During a natural stride, the foot brakes before it accelerates, adding strain to the body. The TevaSphere design reduces the magnitude of braking and results in a more efficient transition from heel to toe when compared to square-heeled shoes intended to control motion, and even running barefoot. Teva also studied walking downhill and engineered the shoe to handle breaking forces better than hiking shoes.
Best for TRAIL RUN
My first run with TEVA TevaSphere Speed shoe is at the adrenaline-pumping TEVA Trail Challenge in Earthheaven, San Mateo Rizal. This is actually my first trail run and a comment on my Instagram account says that this one is of the most difficult trail run.
Though my shoes are new and I want to keep it clean, the TEVA Trail Challenge is definitely not the place for it. We have to cross a river so it had to be soaked and be wet all through out the challenge. But thanks to its quick-dry materials running is a breeze. My shoes was also filled with mud since it rained before the race day at San Mateo, Rizal but it can be easily removed in running water.
Thanks to TEVA because I placed 34th out of the 55 five kilometer male runners. I'm proud of myself because I was able to beat other "running bloggers" in the 5K category considering this was my first trail run. I think having a nice sleep and a great shoe contributed to this "victory."
TevaSphere: Quick Dry, Lightweight, Grippy Sole
TevaSphere Speed features quick-dry materials, lightweight design and Teva’s Spider Original Rubber outsole. TevaSphere outsole uses a spherical heel with two support pods to give you lightweight minimalism without sacrificing stability. The TevaSphere outsole is composed of Spider365 Rubber that provides supreme traction on various terrains. In addition, the TevaSphere offers a welcome aesthetic which transitions easily from the trail to the sidewalk. Structural minimalism, non-sew synthetics; flexible mesh and vibrant color define the versatile looks of the TevaSphere Speed shoes.
TevaSphere Speed is available in two colors (black/blue & gray/yellow-green) for men and women with an SRP of PHP 5,490.00. TEVA is currently available at the second level of Trinoma, all R.O.X. stores, Mountain Hardwear stores and selected Res/Toe/Run stores.
