The Truth About LASIK

LASIK (short for  "Laser-Assisted in Situ Keratomileusis") or commonly referred to simply as laser eye surgery, is a type of refractive surgery for the correction of myopia, hyperopia, and astigmatism.

The power of  laser is used to reshape the cornea in order to improve visual acuity. LASIK surgery is very popular now because it is quick, painless and can have your eyes restored and back to normal in just days. For some patients, LASIK is an alternative to eyeglasses or contact lenses.

During the procedure, a small incision is made in the cornea of the eye area. An excimer laser is then used to change the shape of the central part of the cornea called the stroma & therefore make the necessary correction. The flap is then replaced to complete the surgery. Although this may sound like a serious operation, it is just a few minutes long & totally painless for the patient who is under anesthetic.

If you suffer from poor eyesight and you have worn eyeglasses or contact lenses all your life, then you might want to consider LASIK eye surgery. If you live in Chicago or its nearby city there are qualified ophthalmologist that performs lasik and PRK procedures in Chicago. According to some patients, the results are immediate. Because right after the surgery, you will experience an improvement with your eyesight. At the very least, you will get to literally "see" results a day or two after the operation.

  1. I'm amazed, I have to admit. Rarely do I come across a blog that's both educative and entertaining, and let me tell
you, you've hit the nail on the head. The problem is something
that not enough folks are speaking intelligently about. Now i'm
very happy that I came across this in my search for something relating to
    this.
