Warner Bros. pulled off a gigantic opening for its 3D fantasy adventure “Jack the Giant Slayer,” grossing a monumental P52-M nationwide to open at No. 1 for the Feb. 28 to March 3 period, and posting the year’s biggest opening weekend to-date.
This was announced today by Francis Soliven, General Manager of Warner Bros. Philippines.
The epic action spectacle from filmmaker Bryan Singer and starring Nicholas Hoult also broke two more records in its path – the year’s highest first-four day gross industry-wide and Warner’s most successful launch so far for 2013. “Jack the Giant Slayer’s” phenomenal bow in the country mirrored the film’s blockbuster opening in the US and North America where it also debuted at No.1 with $28-M.
Locally, the largest share of gross receipts were contributed by SM Mall of Asia with P3.95-M, Trinoma with P2.52-M and SM Cebu with P1.75-M.

In “Jack the Giant Slayer,” an ancient war is reignited when a young farmhand unwittingly opens a gateway between our world and a fearsome race of giants.
Unleashed on the Earth for the first time in centuries, the giants strive to reclaim the land they once lost, forcing the young man, Jack (Hoult), into the battle of his life to stop them. Fighting for a kingdom and its people, and the love of a brave princess, he comes face to face with the unstoppable warriors he thought only existed in legend… and gets the chance to become a legend himself.
A New Line Cinema presentation, in association with Legendary Pictures, “Jack the Giant Slayer” is now playing across the Philippines in IMAX 3D, Digital 3D and regular theatres and is distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company.
