UPLB Drag Den unites its way to UPLB Feb Fair 2022
In partnership with UP Socius and All Students Council Assembly (ACSA), UPLB Babaylan is bringing UPLB Drag Den back at the UPLB February Fair 2022 on February 25, 6:30-8:00 PM, with the theme, “Unite for Love: Sama-samang Hindi Mashoshokot.” The event aims to unite the LGBTQ+ community, along with other progressive groups, to build a unified front against the widespread misogyny, gender-based violence, state oppression, and social inequalities among others.
Despite the current online setup, the organization continues the fight on social media platforms to call for a collective action on securing the rights of the marginalized sector and the immediate passage of the SOGIE Equality Bill that intends to protect not only the LGBTQ+ community but every Filipino citizen.
Through drag performances and solidarity messages of representatives from different sectors, the event will amplify the voices of the vulnerable in calling out the authorities to act in ensuring that all people—regardless of their color, race, ethnicity, gender identity, or sexual orientation—attain equal rights and opportunities.
The event will feature performances from drag queens Abigaile, Liberty, Lady Gagita, and a special guest. It will also feature performances from the local band, Ashfall, and solo artists like Frank Saturday and Joan Velasquez. Representative Arlene Brosas of Gabriela Women’s Partylist will also be giving a solidarity message to stand for the One Billion Rising movement which aims to end the violence against women and queer minorities that are often tormented by the persistent issue of gender-based violence.
Aside from the speakers and performers, exciting prizes also await from the raffle
event which includes a tote backpack, french press, humidifier, 300 pesos worth of GCash, and e-vouchers from the sponsors of the event.
