Where to Stay in Siem Reap, Cambodia?

Siem Reap, famous for its grandiose Angkor Wat, the largest religious monument in the world is located 5 hours away from Cambodia's capital Phnom Penh. But most people who visits the country go straight to this province to see the majestic temples in this UNESCO World Heritage site that measures 162.6 hectares. One day is actually not enough to appreciate the whole area!

Angkor Wat, Cambodia's most iconic temple and one of the most important archaeological sites in South East Asia is one of my dream destination,  so I when I had the chance to visit Siem Reap, I see to it that I maximized my time being there. The $37 entrance fee was well worth it.

There are direct flights from Manila to Siem Reap via Cebu Pacific, Air Asia and other airlines but I opt to travel via Giant Ibis bus since I came from Thailand. Travel time is around 8 hours but of course its cheaper compare to air flights plus,  you get to enjoy the sceneries while traveling.

My recent Indochina trip covers Bangkok, Siem Reap, Phnom Penh and Ho Chi Minh. I even had a short visit at Singapore since I have a 16 hours layover at Changi. This itinerary was made just a month before my trip because I have actually a different plan. More on this on my future blog posts ;)

WHERE TO STAY IN SIEM REAP, CAMBODIA?

There are more than 363 hotels in Siem Reap as listed by Trip Advisor, which one to choose?

My criteria in choosing a place to stay is simple: fast wi-fi, comfy beds, quiet place at night, nice pool and attentive staffs. Tresor d'Angkor Suite located at Krous Village, Sangkat Svay Dangkum Siem Reap, Siemreab-Otdar Meanchey has all this and more.

Check out this quick video tour:

Tresor d'Angkor Suite is a brand new resort located on green natural garden with its modern and elegant design and is indeed Angkor's hidden treasure. Located on the green outskirts of Siem Reap about half way between the temples of Angkor and the town center, all nearby attractions are just a short ride away.

Pub Street, Old Market, Royal Residence, Angkor National Museum, and of course the Angkor Archaeological Park is just few minutes away. Tuk-tuk drivers is on standby outside the resort if you want to stroll around the city. After visiting the museum, I walk around the area and found some Wat (a monastery or temple) like Preah Ang Chek Preah Ang ChomWat Preah Prom Rath and Wat Bo. I took a lot of photos here!  Wat Athvear and Wat Damnak is also near the area but it was already dark when I finished taking photos at Wat Preah Prom Rath so I wasn't able to see it.

I chose a Villa Suite with Pool View at Tresor Siem Reap Hotel which is an air-conditioned villa that comes with parquet flooring, a desk, wardrobe, a cable TV, in-room safe and sofa seating area. Electric kettle and mini-bar are also included. The en suite bathroom has a huge bathtub, shower facility, complete with bathrobes and the usual free toiletries.

They also give me a complimentary welcome drink and free two-way transfers from airport, bus or boat station. This service is actually included in every stay at the hotel. Since I rode a bus from Bangkok to Siem Reap, a staff from the hotel fetch me at the Giant Ibis bus station in Phum Viheachen, Sangkat Svay Dangkum. He is easy to find because he holds a paper with my printed name on it. I'm actually expecting a tuk-tuk but he accompanied me to a nice car.

"Wow!" That's my reaction when I first saw Tresor d'Angkor Suite. I've seen the photos of the hotel online but its better in real life. The whole resort is clean and well-maintained and the staff which are all quite young speaks English very well and they are courteous and attentive to my needs. I was given a complimentary welcome drink, they asked for passport and handed me the key to my room, a Villa Suite with Pool View

My room is huge! I can actually cartwheel around it. 😂 After I enter the villa, I immediately test the wi-fi inside the room and it was blazing fast I was able to sync all my  Singapore and Thailand photos from my phone and my camera in just a few minutes.

My huge bed is so comfy that I don't want to leave it,  if not for my growling stomach. 😂 I got up and prepares for dinner at Tresor Cafe, the hotel's restaurant. I was able to try local Khmer dishes at the restaurant but my fave would be the their version of  Seafood Tom Yum Soup and White & Red Rice With Chicken, Shrimp & Fish Amok. Full review of the restaurant will be soon posted on my food blog

Another favorite is their Angkor Beer, I was able to try it after dinner. Philippines' San Miguel Beer is actually famous here in Cambodia, I think they have a local beer plant in Thailand as what I read on the label.

After dinner and a few beers, the staff at the restaurant surprised me with song number and a lovely birthday cake! I almost cried :) This is the first time that I celebrated my birthday alone but I didn't feel lonely because of the staffs and Angkor Beer.  😉

Aside from their gorgeous pool and the nice bath tub in the villa, what I liked about Tresor d'Angkor Suite is their people: the staff and the management. You will feel home because of their hospitality and genuine smiles. They will go the extra mile just to please their visitors. Tresor d'Angkor Suite staffs will arrange everything for you to make your stay smooth & memorable. They even woke me up at 5AM so I can see the magnificent sunrise at Angkor Wat.  They would always chose me a realiable tuk-tuk driver everytime I wanna go explore Siem Reap and they arranged everything inside my room after my Angkor Wat tour. Actually I scattered all my things before leaving for tour because I'm looking for something. 😊

Siem Reap is a crowded place specially at the city center,  so this is a perfect choice if you want a relaxing sleep at night, away from the noise of Pub Street. I'm actually planning to come back with my mom on April 2018! See you soon Tresor d'Angkor Suite!
