Exclusive Cinema Experience for the Blind and Deaf at SM Malls


People with hearing and visual impairments recently given the chance to experience and watch the animated-musical fantasy, Frozen at SM City San Jose del Monte.

A total of 200 participants joined Princess Anna in her journey to find her estranged sister, Elsa whose icy power unintentionally trapped their kingdom in eternal winter. The movie was presented with added features to tailor fit their hearing and visual conditions.

Audio descriptions in the movie are inserted to meet the needs of the visually impaired participants, not to miss the actions, gestures, facial expressions and scene transitions in the movie. Key visual scenes are also provided to add context without disturbing the flow of the story.

The different sectors of PWD and SPED in San Jose del Monte who joined the activity were: Bahay Kapwa ko Kalinga ko Rehab and SPED Center; Benito Nieto Elementary School Sped in Muzon, BBH Sped Center; Sapang Palay National High School; San Rafael BBH; Happy Child Montessori; Minuyan Proper; Brgy. Tungkong Mangga; Brgy. Kaypian; Brgy. Graceville; Job Clean Manpower Agency; KAISA – Ka Federation; and CSWD in San Jose del Monte City.

This special movie screening for the Blind and Deaf is led by SM Cares in partnership with the CALL Foundation of the Blind, Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) and SM Cinema.

The next free screening for the Blind and Deaf is slated October 3, December 5 and January 9, 2018, featuring full-length films like Pan, Tomorrowland, and The Good Dinosaur.
