Philippine Eagle Foundation & Avida Land, Signed MOA

Avida Land has entered into a sponsorship agreement with the Philippine Eagle Foundation (PEF)—after the signing of the MOA, Avida officially supports the foundation’s efforts to help save the Philippine Eagle and its habitat. With the agreement, Avida is now one of the corporate sponsors of PEF in a concentrated bid to protect this critically endangered species.

The Philippine eagle is considered one of the largest and most powerful eagles in the world. It is also one of the rarest of all eagle species, found only in the forests of Luzon, Samar, Leyte and Mindanao. Unfortunately, the destruction of forests threatens these raptors’ (meaning, “birds of prey”) existence. The Philippine Eagle is critically endangered and there only about 500 pairs left in the wild

Following the terms of the agreement, Avida Land will support PEF for the next 3 years to help breed Philippine eagles at the PEF sanctuary. The sponsorship also goes into efforts to educate the public on the importance of the Philippine eagle to Davao’s ecosystem and to our national heritage.

Avida’s contribution will be spent on the care, maintenance, and monitoring of nests of eagle chicks in the wild, including their daily feeding and veterinary care. Part of it will also go to the other support programs of the PEF.

In recognition of Avida’s help, the PEF will name a 12-year-old eagle in its care as “Avida.” If all goes well, “Avida” will mature and bear eagles of her own to help continue the Philippine eagle species.

Avida’s partnership with the PEF is part of their overall commitment for sustainable development wherever there is an Avida property.

Sustainability practiced by Ayala Land means building communities that: 1) Meet the needs of customers; 2) Create benefits that last through generations; and 3) Offer environment-friendly products and design that uplift the lives of people in and around them.

For Ayala Land, the ultimate end of sustainability is nation-building. As such, sustainability is integrated into everything it does: from the choice and acquisition of land, to how it master-plans communities and townships; to the design and construction of its properties. Avida developments are thoughtfully planned to result in energy efficiency and make them environmentally sound and truly sustainable.

As Avida expands its reach across the Visayas and Mindanao, it will continue other engagements focusing on sustainability for communities where its projects are located. Avida has already sold out its Avida Towers Cebu. Its next Cebu property, Avida Towers Riala, was recently launched.

Currently, Avida is developing the Centrio Tower in Cagayan de Oro; house and lot projects in Iloilo and Bacolod; and it will soon begin its first property in Davao.
