AXN Beyond is now "beTV"

SPT Networks, Asia’s beTV is the New Place to Be! Sony Pictures Television Networks, Asia, home to leading regional pay-TV channels including AXN and Animax, is rebranding AXN Beyond as beTV across Asia. Beginning 2 April 2012, the new beTV channel will feature an expanded content line-up and a new on- and off-air look and feel, with a channel ‘personality’ to match.

“We have been broadening the appeal of AXN Beyond by introducing a wider range of programming such as Pan Am, Necessary Roughness and A Gifted Man. Renaming the channel to beTV better reflects the broad general entertainment service that it offers. We believe beTV will soon become the new entertainment ‘hang-out’ for viewers to relax, laugh, catch up with their favourite characters and shows, or just unwind after a long day,” said Mr Ricky Ow, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Networks, Asia, Sony Pictures Television.

A broad slate of fresh light entertainment programming – engaging and easy-to-watch shows – will be added including Rob, Rob Schneider’s latest sitcom based loosely on his real-life whirlwind romance and marriage; while reality show I Get That A Lot sets up celebrities like Heidi Klum, Martha Stewart, LeAnn Rimes and Jessica Simpson in everyday jobs such as wait and sales staff, with hidden cameras capturing reactions of unsuspecting customers and passers-by. Scripted favourites such as Everybody Loves Raymond featuring Ray Romano and Touched by an Angel starring Roma Downey and Della Reese will be familiar additions.

beTV viewers can also continue to enjoy returning seasons of some of the best drama series on television including Sherlock featuring Benedict Cumberbatch, sci-fi themed shows Teen Wolf and Supernatural, comedy dramas Chuck and How to be a Gentleman, along with medical drama Grey’s Anatomy.

beTV will sport a logo and identity in vibrant orange complemented by a set of warm colours to offer an on-air look that is both casual and contemporary. The beTV rebrand will be seen in 15 markets including Brunei, Cambodia, Fiji, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, Maldives, Mongolia, Palau, Papua New Guinea, Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Sri Lanka and Thailand.

In the Philippines, the rebrand to beTV was unveiled during Sony Pictures Television Networks, Asia’s channels presentation event in Manila on 7 March, graced by Filipino-American chef Paul Qui, winner of the latest and ninth season of culinary competition reality TV series Top Chef.

Based in Austin, Texas, Qui is executive chef of Japanese farmhouse dining and sushi restaurant, Uchiko. Trained in classic French and Japanese cuisine, he takes a modernist approach towards food with no boundaries, and is an associate in Culinary Arts from Le Cordon Bleu Austin.

Qui was born in Manila where his love affair with food began as a child with the "sweet smells of freshly baked breads in the morn¬ings and the diverse culture of the Philip¬pines" that he found in the bustling bakery of his family's grocery store. He moved to the US at the age of ten and received training at Austin's Texas Culinary Academy before working up the ranks at Texas, Austin-based contemporary Japanese dining and sushi restaurant Uchi, before becoming executive chef of offshoot restaurant Uchiko.

Members of the local media, beTV advertising clients and cable platform partners were privileged to enjoy Qui’s Top Chef Season 9-winning culinary excellence in a dinner menu created and prepared by Qui, in celebration of the beTV rebrand. Viewers can catch Qui competing against a record field of 28 other contestants for the honour of ‘Top Chef’ in Texas on Top Chef Season 9 coming first and exclusively to beTV.

From 2 April, beTV invites you to be yourself, be involved, and be surrounded by great entertainment on SkyCable channel 35, Dream Satellite channel 36 & Cignal Digital TV channel 37.
