Burdado Run 2016 - The 1st Philippine Tattoo Community Color Run

People from all walks of life are urged to join the first-ever for-a-cause event dubbed as the “Streetwise Burdado (Color) Run 2016” which will be held at Baywalk, Roxas Boulevard, Ermita-Malate, Manila, (across Rajah Sulayman Park). The said activity was mounted for the Philippine Tattoo Community, which aim to promote the art tattoo industry in the country and eradicate the negative image of tattooed Pinoys.

With Streetwise Events Management and Public Relations (Streetwise) in the lead and in partnership with the Manila Tourism and Cultural Affairs Bureau of the local government of Manila and the Rotary Club of Ermita, the Burdado Run is set to be held on November 13, 2016, Sunday, 4:00 am, at Rajah Sulayman Park, Roxas Boulevard, Malate, Manila.

Kenneth Montegrande, Streetwise Managing Director, said during the media interviews at Vin55 Bar and Restaurant, Rizal Park, Manila, that he and his team, together with respected personalities in the tattoo industry such as Ricky Sta. Ana, Myke Sambajon, Norman Labao, Edwin Pranada, and Jake Cuerpo, wanted to organize a meaningful activity not just to improve the perception and credibility of tattooed individuals, but also to showcase the tattoo industry as an art division.

“Streetwise has always been fond of organizing for-a-cause events that serve as the guide and inspiration for our fellow citizens. When we conceptualized the Streetwise Burdado Run, we wanted to ease the reservations of the general public about tattooed individuals. We wanted to help reform the mentality that when one is with tattoos, they are former convicts or jail inmates, hold dati ang iniisip ng iba ay ex-convict, robbers, or just anyone with bad intentions, which includes women, for that matter. This should not be, as tattoos are actually an art of expression and is deeply linked to our culture and history,” Montegrande added.

They also reiterated and wanted to persuade the public, particularly the tattooed Filipinos, to have a healthy lifestyle and exercise through sports and by running.

Participants will surely enjoy not just the running event but also the other line-up of activities, such as the throwing of various colored powders and non-stop music from rock and alternative bands, such as Intersections, April Morning Skies, Stilllife, and Planes.

Estimates of 3,000 running enthusiasts will also get to experience great rock and roll vibes through music played by famous DJ’s such as Ron Poe, DJ Joker and more, while free seminars on the tips and tricks will be given by tattoo masters Sir Myke Sambajon, Edwin Miraflores, Nero Nievo, and Robert Jimenez, on November 15, Tuesday.

“Inaanyayahan namin ang buong tattoo industry at publiko partikular ang mga may tattoo na makiisa sa event na ito upang isulong ang tattoo art industry sa bansa at alisin ang masamang imahe na tingin sa mga Pinoy na may tattoo,” Sambajon shared.

Furthermore, the stamina and endurance of the runners will also be tested through the various race categories, which include 3K - P500; 5K - P600; and 10K - P750. Included in the race kits are the Burdado Singlet (Sando), Race Numbers (Bib), Finishers Medal, Sachets of Color Powder, Color Run eyeglasses, Limited Edition Burdado Sticker Tattoo, Loot Bags from our sponsors like Ed Hardy and Raffle Stubs, while runners in the 10K Category will receive Limited Edition Burdado Run Finisher Shirts.
