Impeccable Furnitures, Paintings & Artifacts from Legarda Ancestral House, Up for Auction


Leon Gallery's 7th online auction under the Leonexchange platform features the exquisite furnitures, paintings and artifacts from the Legarda Ancestral House. All bidding will be purely done online at leonexchange.com. Highlights of the auction are the contents of the famous residence of Dr. and Mrs. Alejandro Roces Legarda in San Rafael Street, San Miguel district and just across Malacañang Palace. The heritage house later on became a well-loved restaurant, "Cocina de Tita Moning". It housed the magnificent painting "La Inocencia" by Felix Resureccion Hidalgo. The furniture and fixtures of the home are exquisite examples from the 1920’s to the 1930's.

Among the paintings in the auction are works by Juvenal Sanso, Arturo Luz, Hernando R. Ocampo, as well as watercolors by Carlos V. Francisco. Some of the furniture and objects d'art are pieces from the collections of the National Artist Jose Joya and the respected antiquarian, art critic, and jeweler Ramon N. Villegas.



Also included in the sale is the 1889 Certificate of Silver Medal award of Felix Resureccion Hidalgo at the Universal Exposition in Paris for his work "La Parisienne" as well as a philatelic cover envelope addressed to Don Pedro Paterno from Ferdinand Blumentritt.

Rare pieces of Lalique and silver, Chinoiserie, early Filipino furniture, China, books and photographs are all part of this extensive and well-rounded sale.



The interior curation of the exhibition which will commence on Monday, the 23rd of April, will be done by the talented interior decorator Antonio Paolo del Rosario. The exhibition begins at 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. from April 23 to 26, 2018 at Leon Gallery, Eurovilla 1, Rufino corner Legazpi Streets., Legazpi Village, Makati City.
