SM CITY MARILAO Celebrates a Decade of Growth & Giving

The day SM Supermalls opened its 1st mall in the province of Bulacan, SM City Marilao has immediately become a part of every Bulakeños lifestyle- bringing new shopping experience, dining and entertainment excitement, as well as providing employment, contributing to local tax revenues and recreating more business opportunities to the fastest developing urban areas in Luzon.

Located in the suburbs and with a land area of 130,282.00 square meters, SM City Marilao continues to embody the perfect blend of urbanization and rural charm by housing popular food, apparel and service shops as well as growing homegrown store chains that include Marilao’s famous Puto Popular and Isaro among others.

Signaling the revelry, SM City Marilao looked back at 10 years with a week-long celebration dedicated to a decade of remarkable milestone and extraordinary accomplishments. Starting off the festivities was a photo exhibit that showcased a compilation of recollections, chronicling shopper’s fondest memories of the mall throughout the years. From the mall’s grand opening to celebration of exotic local flavor like Singkaban fiestas and unveiling of Giant Kakanin, all the way down to the SM’s tourism campaign concept of My City, My SM series and “bayanihan spirit” in the Corporate Social Responsibility operations, the exhibit pulls all the touchstones that make SM City Marilao special to its respective locale.

Because every SM mall is a reflection of the city and a reflection of its people, a special section was also devoted to Bulacan’s delectable cuisines and traditional delicacies, unique crafts and talented artists.

Alongside the photo exhibit in the Atrium is a culinary spot that features local flavors such as pancit Marilao, pastillas, putong puti, putong pula, tamales, suman, atchara de Marilao and conchinta. Shoppers and even tourists enjoyed tasting these delicacies as the province’s signature dishes were proudly showcased. Likewise, Singkaban crafts as well as handmade capiz lanterns adorned the exhibit.

A culminating concert from the notable singer and Asia’s songbird, Regine Velasquez will take place at the event center on the 28th of November. True to her roots, the award winning singer will be belting out beautiful selection of Original Pilipino Music, Kundiman and Christmas Songs.

Complementing the Songbird’s performance will be another outstanding professional showmanship from the Philippine Opera Singers on the November 29. The group behind the success of “Ang Bagong Harana”, an operative musical revue featuring traditional and contemporary Filipino love songs and patriotic anthems, is set to serenade shoppers with the best love Filipino songs from top Filipino composers- Nicanor Abelardo, Ryan Cayabyab, Willy Cruz, Francisco Santiago, Antonio Molina, Resti Umali, George Canseco, Ernani Cuenco, Levi Celerio, Jose Estrella, Constancio De Guzman and Felipe de Leon.

Amid all these happenings, SM Marilao gives back to the communities it served by recently donating a total of P30,000 worth of brand new school supplies that include packs of pencils, writing papers and notebooks as well as electric fans to ten (10) public schools in Marilao in Bulacan. The donation sought to supply the needs of children and schools in less affluent areas of the basic materials they will need to carry out their education.

“As we continue to grow, we think of the communities we serve” said SM City Marilao Mall Manager Hazel Bernice Reyes. “Our success is inextricably linked to the positive impact we have on our communities. We would like to think that through our contributions and volunteer efforts we have helped in creating strong communities” SM Marilao Mall Manager added.

Capping off the 10th celebration will be the grand fireworks display on November 30.
