PSY's "GENTLEMAN" Music Video Sets New Youtube Record


Multiplatinum-selling global superstar PSY premiered his brand new music video for "Gentleman" [School Boy Records/Republic Records] on Saturday April 13 and set a new YouTube record for "most views in a day". The anxiously awaited clip for his "Gangnam Style" follow-up amassed a staggering 22-plus million views in less than a day, immediately becoming an online hit in its own right. The song, first heard during his momentous performance at this weekend's "HAPPENING" concert to a sold out crowd of 50,000 fans at the Seoul World Cup Stadium in Seoul, Korea was also broadcast live on YouTube to an audience of millions worldwide. Currently, the video is over 81 million views in the short span of a few days.

In tandem with the music video's debut, the track went live on iTunes around the globe the same day. Instantly, it shot up to #1 in two dozen territory, and it's clenching that spot at the top. The song itself is another irresistible and inimitable pop anthem that builds on the sound that made PSY a true juggernaut. Meanwhile, the video once again reflects his sly sense of humor, impeccable dance moves, and undeniable swagger.

However, making history and smashing records have become tradition for PSY. The music video for "Gangnam Style" is the first clip ever to reach 1 billion views on YouTube/VEVO. It also holds the Guinness World Record for "most-viewed" on the site, setting and holding the record in 2012. It's the "most-liked" video on the hub with over 7.3 million "Likes". The video shows no signs of stopping still. Views range between 7 and 10 million daily for "Gangnam Style", and countless clips fan-generated have popped up generating their own plethora of eyeballs. Right now, it's over 1.5 billion views.

PSY also has been honored recently in the U.S. and across the Atlantic. At the 2012, MTV Europe Music Awards, "Gangnam Style" received the top honor for "Best Video", while at the American Music Awards, he took home their coveted trophy as this year’s "New Media Honoree". Last, thanksgiving, PSY popped by The Tonight Show with Jay Leno for a very special holiday rendition of the song. It followed up a string of successful high-profile TV appearances including the Today Show, Saturday Night Live, Ellen DeGeneres, ABC's Nightline, Jimmy Kimmel Live!, and The View.
