Gretchen Barretto for BAUME & MERCIER

Actress Gretchen Barretto graced the BAUME & MERCIER event held at the Greenbelt 5 Fashion Walk last week. The theme of the said event is, seaside living. There is nothing more relaxing and comfortable than seaside living – taking long strolls beneath the open sky, having impromptu picnics with family or simply watching the sunset barefoot in the sand.

The charms of such lavish comfort and heartfelt moments are encapsulated in the latest collections of Baume & Mercier, one of the greatest houses of Swiss watchmaking.

Known for its lifestyle calling, Baume & Mercier successfully reinterpreted some of its winning watch models to match the lifestyle and values of today’s individuals, while showcasing the same dedicated excellence to immortalize one’s important moments.

Each watch is engraved with the Greek letter ‘Phi’, a symbol of balance and perfection and a sign of recognition between Baume & Mercier connoisseurs, a “worldwide family” united by the same generous and relaxed vision of life.

Christian Bartosch, Managing Director of Baume & Mercier North East Asia said, “We are excited to present Baume & Mercier’s latest collection, which embodies our brand’s vision of conviviality and authenticity. I believe that the Philippine market will come to love these new line of watches because Filipinos are known for their refined taste and sophisticated style.”

“Baume & Mercier is one of the most prestigious watch brands in the world,” explains Emerson Yao, Managing Director of Lucerne, the exclusive distributor of Baume & Mercier in the Philippines. “We are pleased to present the brand’s latest collection and we invite the public to view these truly elegant timepieces in our exhibit.”

For the contemporary self-expressive woman, the iconic Linea, an ultra-feminine watch with a renowned diamond-set bezel and prominent numerals will help show her true character. Originally launched in 1980, it became an international bestseller among women’s watches because of its confident allure and femininity. Now, the new model is differentiated by its enlarged domed crystal shape and interchangeable bracelet from metal to satin or black calfskin single strap, which can be easily changed to suit an independent woman’s mood and style.

Meanwhile, men who have a clear sight of their dreams can get additional inspiration from Capeland. A contemporary reinterpretation of the historic single-push chronograph from 1948, it has an ergonomic shape that suggests seaside living. It also promotes a relaxed modern sporty feel with its straightforward numerals and touch of red on the end of the seconds hand and the telemeter. Plus, these watches are equipped with a self-winding mechanical movement with a flyback chronograph function.

For the urban man who knows how to escape the stress of the city, the Classima is his indispensible ally. Maintaining its chic masculine interior, this timepiece combines the simplicity of self-winding mechanical movements and modern watchmaking expertise such as dual time zone, power reserve and sapphire crystal case back displaying its oscillating weight.

The highlight of the exhibit is the new Hampton Collection, which truly represents the relaxing seaside living -- timeless beauty and everlasting remembrance of special moments. Inspired by the 1940s museum piece, the Hampton kept its highly distinctive satined domed volume, curved case side and enhanced curved sapphire crystal while adorning a modern refined sword hands to fits today’s sophisticated men and women.

The ladies’ pieces carry a signature “jodhpur” shape wristband made in satin or alligator. The case and the bracelet are perfectly integrated that adds to its sophisticated touch. The collection’s main emblematic piece has a fully-set case beautifully paired with a white alligator strap. It consists of 80 diamonds and a case back decorated with a “Sundeck décor” to allow for the watch to be personalized with words of affection.

On the other hand, the men’s Hampton exists in self-winding version or automatic chronograph version. It comes in always two-tone warm masculine hues and has a straight alligator strap with an adjustable triple folding clasp for finishing touch. Its emblematic pieces also remain true to Roman numerals, truly combining its original esthetic while giving it impressive modern proportions

Since 1830, Baume & Mercier has been designing watches of the highest quality endowed with the brand’s signature classic, timeless esthetic. It has made luxury available to many people through its array of elegant watches that tell time, remind special events and keep memories.
