Cirque du Soleil's TORUK The First Flight - Manila 2017

I became a fan of Cirque Du Soleil after I watched them live during their first visit here via their Varekai show in front of Manila Hotel back in 2011. They brought their famous Grand Chapiteau back then. I collect original DVDs of their show and I even have the Immortal CD, the soundtrack to Cirque du Soleil's Michael Jackson: The Immortal World Tour. So when I heard that they will coming back I feel so ecstatic about it.

They held their grand Asian premiere in The Philippines on June 23, then they will bring Toruk in Taiwan, New Zealand, Australia then Thailand. Its also nice to know that this time, they have Filipino team members.

Inspired by James Cameron’s Avatar, Cirque du Soleil transports you to the world of Pandora in a visually stunning live setting. TORUK The First Flight is a live immersive multimedia spectacle that brings to the stage the breathtaking world of James Cameron’s AVATAR like you have never seen it before. Through a riveting fusion of cutting-edge visuals, puppetry and stagecraft buoyed by a soaring cinematic score, Cirque du Soleil applies its unique signature style to James Cameron’s imaginary world and “makes the bond” between two kindred artistic visions that capture the imagination.

It is a living ode to the Na’vi’s symbiotic coexistence with nature and their belief in the basic interconnectedness of all living things. Narrated by a “Na’vi Storyteller” and populated by unforgettable characters, TORUK – The First Flight is a mythical tale set thousands of years before the events depicted in the film AVATAR, and before any humans ever set foot on Pandora.

When a natural catastrophe threatens to destroy the sacred Tree of Souls, Ralu and Entu, two Omaticaya boys on the brink of adulthood, fearlessly decide to take matters into their own hands. Upon learning that Toruk can help them save the Tree of Souls, they set out, together with their newfound friend Tsyal, on a quest high up in the Floating Mountains to find the mighty red and orange predator that rules the Pandoran sky. Prophecy is fulfilled when a pure soul rises among the clans to ride Toruk for the first time and save the Na’vi from a terrible fate.

If you are a fan of the Cirque Du Soleil's death defying act, they tone it down a bit on Toruk - The First Flight. This show mainly focuses on the lavish costumes, spectacular props and eye-popping 3D mapping. It's more like a theater show than a circus act and I'm not even complaining, this show brings out the kid in me!

Cirque du Soleil, the largest theatrical producer in the world never cease to amaze me. The whole experience is worth every peso!
