SM Foundation Brings Christmas to Needy Children

In partnership with the Department of Social Welfare and Development Office, SM Foundation brought holiday magic to less fortunate kids with its Make A Child Happy Mall Tour in SM City Baliwag.

The Make A Child Happy Project aims to bring cheers to more than 10,000 underprivileged children nationwide. Now on its second year in SM City Baliwag, SM Foundation welcomed over 300 children from various barangays in Baliwag town and delighted them to a day of kiddie party and fun games. Participants were also thrilled to receive gifts and other freebies as an early Christmas treat. Also present to support are mall tenants such as Chowking, KFC and Tom’s World who generously provided free snacks and amusement rides for the kids to enjoy.

Apart from SM Foundation’s gift-giving event, mall goers are also encouraged to donate toys or clothes (old or new) at the Share-A-Toy booth located in SM City Baliwag’s drop off entrance (near KFC). Toy Kingdom merchandise are also placed near the booth for on-the-go mall enthusiasts who wish to share a gift. The Share-A-Toy project runs until January 3, 2011.

Other Ways to Give this Christmas Salvation Army’s Christmas Kettle. The trademark red kettle is widely recognized every Christmas season to inspire passersby to place donations that will benefit poor communities in the Philippines through Salvation Army’s various livelihood and health programs. SM Cares’ Adopt-A-Bear. Stop by the Event Center area and send a gift of warm fuzzies to orphaned kids this holiday season. Until December 31, mall goers may adopt an SM Cares Bear for P100 and hang it on the Christmas Bear Tree. Likewise, a Donation Certificate will be given to acknowledge the sponsorship. Proceeds together with the SM Cares Bears will be donated to charitable institutions nationwide.
