SM Malls Strengthens Commitment Towards Environmental Sustainability

SolarTech Designs Manager Ms. Aurea Ramos discussed the benefits of using solar energy with a prototype of a Solar Panel Powered Lamp Post displayed during the Green Retail Agenda in SM City Baliwag.

In partnership with the Department of Energy (DOE) and Philippine Information Agency in Region 3, SM City Baliwag conducted an environment sustainability conference dubbed as “Green Retail Agenda: Empowerment by Sustainability,” at the mall’s Event Center.

The annual program aims to highlight eco-solutions including the latest trends in sustainability, energy and green design, conservation and reduction of the company’s carbon footprint. Through SM Cares’ Environment Committee, this year’s theme focused on relating responsible retail and empowering Filipinos in going ‘green’.

Together with SM’s business partners, suppliers and contractors, graduating high school students in Baliwag town were also invited to be part of the green conference.

Speakers included DOE’s Efficiency and Conservation Division Senior Research Specialist, Max Marquez, Bulacan State University Professor Marwin Dela Cruz who talked about “Edukasyon sa Ekolohiyang Pangkalikasan,” and Solartech Enterprise’s Design Manager Aurea Ramos who discussed on solar energy management in commercial and residential spaces.
