Talk on Basic Life Support at SM City Baliwag

A trained first aider from Mariveles demonstrates how to do an initial assessment on an unconscious victim during the conduct of the Basic Life Support Session at SM City Baliwag.

In partnership with the Department of Health (DOH) thru their Center for Health Development in Region 3 and the National Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council, a Basic Life Support Demonstration Session was held last July 7 at the Event Center of SM City Baliwag.

The 2-hour program is part of DOH’s kick-off activities in the observance of National Disaster Consciousness Month held simultaneously in selected Metro Manila and provincial SM Malls. With the theme, “Makialam. Makiisa. Sa Pagsugpo ng Panganib May Maitutulong Ka.”, it aims to educate individuals in all walks of life in administering first aid in times of health emergency.

Doctors and nurses from DOH partner hospitals in Nueva Ecija and Bataan conducted a lecture and demonstration on different first aid responses for various cases. Present to attend the session were SM employees, personnel, tenants and mall goers who all learned basic knowledge on preparing an emergency plan as well as handling Airway Obstruction and Cardiac Arrest Cases. Participants were also given the chance to perform an actual rescue on a choking patient and cardiopulmonary resuscitation exercise on an adult, child and infant dummy.
