Cosmopoint International Institute of Technology (CIIT)

Few weeks ago, I had the chance to be student again =) I've attended a 1-day short course program offered by Cosmopoint International Institute of Technology (CIIT) located at the 5th Floor of CTTM Square Building in Tomas Morato, Quezon City. I chose Photography Lessons over Photoshop and Flash Animation because its been months now since I bought my Nikon D3100 DSLR and still, I don't know how to manually set it. I just always use "P" mode or Automatic.

CIIT started its history back in 1991 with the opening of their main campus in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Over the years, they have steadily emerged as the top ICT Education conglomerate in Malaysia garnering numerous awards and recognitions. As since, CEG has expanded having opened multiple branches around the world and affiliates in different countries like Australia, Canada, Indonesia, United States and the United Kingdom.

In 2008, CIIT opened its latest branch in the ICT capital of the Philippines - Quezon City - to finally bring top notch ICT education to the Filipino people. With its aim to promote and further strengthen the quality of ICT education, CIIT offers courses in Graphics Design, Multimedia Arts, Software Engineering, Network Design and the latest upcoming courses in 3D Animation and Game Development.

I've been  to CTTM Building for a couple of times already because Eivissa Super Club & Active White Spa is located in the same building.

My class started from 9:00 AM in the morning up to 6:00 PM in the afternoon. I'm 45-minutes late =) So, when I arrived the only vacant seats are at the back, but that's okay to me. We're almost twenty in the class and I've met my instructor, professional photographer Edwin Celestino. He joked that I should treat him lunch because I'm late.

As the lessons progress, I've learned many things and terminologies related to Photography. It may be "nosebleed" at times but it's really educational.

Since I'm not really a morning person (one of the reasons why I quit my day job) waking up 7:00 AM in the morning is so hard for me, so I feel sleepy at my class. But I just keep in mind that I will miss a LOT of things if I didn't listen to my instructor. Our teacher would occasionally asked us questions to test if we really got what he's saying. He's fond of saying, "Gets?" :)

The first part of our lessons tackles the "Familiarization of the Basic dSLR Camera Parts and their Functions." This part answer my questions, where is the diaphragm, ISO setting, hotshoe, reflex mirror, etc. We also tackled the 4 Exposure Factors:  Aperture, Shutter Speed, ISO and Light. This is the part where I keenly listen because I really want to learn how to photograph manually.

We had a one hour break, and I had the chance to try the Korean resto called SakuSaku, located at the first floor of the building. One of the faculty member, Sir Sherwin accompany me downstairs. As I eat my lunch, I've known more about Cosmopoint International Institute of Technology through him. I've also met one of my classmate, Anas, a 22-year old Moroccan. He told me that this photography workshop is actually a surprise gift from her Filipina girlfriend.

Before our break, our instructor announced that there will be a "photowalk" as the last part of our workshop. This gets me excited because I haven't tried it yet. Our chosen location is the ABS-CBN Compound, Sir Edwin said that we will have the chance to submit 3 photos from our photowalk and will be shown via projector in our classroom. Then we will all critique the photos so we can improve our photography skills.

Our photowalk is almost two hours, it's exhausting and fun at the same time. We came back in our classroom to submit our chosen photos, I gave my Transcend 4Gig SD Card to the professor's assistant then she inserted it to the laptop, and then something happen...

MY SD CARD BECAME CORRUPTED. :'(

I don't know what happen. That's the reason why this blog post has no photos. If you're a regular visitor of my blog, you will notice that I love putting a lot of photos on my blog posts, sometimes I put up to 20+ photos  in just one entry ;)

It's possible that my SD Card is now broken but I just bought it last March 2011, it's also possible that the laptop has virus or something but I'm the only one experienced it. The whole day is tiring but fun to me but the corrupted SD Card saddens me a lot because there are sooooo many memories in that one.

Well, I have moved on now :) Overall, studying at CIIT is FUN! The instructors are qualified and not boring. The classrooms are spacious and air-conditioned. The best thing is, the whole campus has  Wi-Fi! =)
