OJ Hofer and Dennis Lustico Featured at Fashion Watch Quartet 2011

Standing as a creative avenue, Fashion Watch Quartet continues to be the much-awaited series that continues to bring to the forefront fresh new talent through an exciting fashion event. This year, 2011, marks the revival of Fashion Watch Quartet. The much raved about fashion series is back for good, amped up and better than ever!

With a roster of homegrown and international talents, fashion forward Filipino craftsmanship rises to the surface as celebrated designers OJ Hofer and Dennis Lustico debuts their collection on the runway.

OJ Hofer Design for couture is integral. It cannot stand alone. It must work in proportion with the figure and personality of the wearer. The structure and form of the dress must succeed in creating a sense of balance. It is with this design philosophy that OJ Hofer works together with his clients.

After studying Fine Arts in UP Diliman, OJ intended to work for in advertising. But what was supposedly a respite from vacation becomes now 20 years in the fashion industry, his works donned by many. He furthered his studies when he won a scholarship at the Philippine Trade Training Center with teachers from Chambre Syndicale in Paris and the Fashion of Institute in New York, which he credits for many valuable lessons he learned in haute couture.

OJ follows a discipline, he finds a structure that will suit the proportions of the wearer, constructs his own patterns, and cuts initially on muslin. He carefully studies the grain of the final fabric so that it falls the way he wants and expects. Nothing is left to chance or guessing. The route from design to execution is planned and like his design, his process is structured. There are two disciplines that OJ Hofer is known for: tailoring and draping. Both go back to structure, the essence of all his designs.

His designs are mostly devoid of flourish and embellishments which many appreciate for its quiet sophistication. Although many Filipina women may likely go for more drama and flair, many are slowly gravitating to the subdued and elegant designs that OJ offers.

Dennis Lustico is known for the bevy of the crème de la crème who wears his designs too parties, events and gala. His designs cannot be mistaken for bland and boring. Seemingly striving to push the artistic envelope, he creates beautiful works of art that shows panache but still very astutely done for everyday women.

Many have come to admire the edginess in his designs and all fall for the way that he evokes femininity and sophistication that are ingratiated in each of his designs. Better yet, most his designs are practical and easy-to-wear, best for women who are constantly out and about.

Fashion Watch 2011 is a project of the CFDP (Council of Fashion Designers of the Philippines). It will run from April to November, 2011.
