SM Marilao Gives 1,500 Kalinga Packs to Maring Flood Victims

Volunteers and employees from SM City Marilao were deployed in areas with most number of displaced families and recurring floodwaters in Marilao, Bulacan to aid the affected families through SMFI’s Operation Tulong Express.

SM City Marilao send its volunteers to flooded areas in Marilao, to provide immediate relief to thousands of families affected by the tropical depression “Maring”.

The tropical depression Maring flooded large swathes and turned some areas in Marilao into inland seas. Through SM Foundation Inc.’s Operation Tulong Express program, around 1,500 families were given relief packs or “kalinga packs”. These ‘kalinga’ packs contain a kilo of rice, canned sardines, and instant noodles as well as bottled waters all packed up in an eco-bag.

Operation Tulong Express (OPTE) is SM Foundation’s emergency response to victims of natural calamities and disasters. Its implementation include close coordination with Savemore and Hypermarket, Mall Administration employees and volunteers that include the mall’s Customer Relations Service (CRS) team as well as Local Government Unit.
