SM Supermalls, through SM Foundation Inc., donated set of books to Day Care Centers in Marilao as a reading materials for the students.
More than 300 day care center students’ parade in vegetable costume in the Nutri-Walk activity held at SM City Marilao. In celebration of the annual Nutrition Month in the country SM City Marilao and the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO) of Marilao partnered in this endeavor.
Kiddos come in costume of carrots, eggplant, corn as well as fruits such as grapes, strawberry, bananas and lots more.
According to Ms. Ruth Ramos, head of Marilao’s MSWDO, “through kind of project we join the entire nation in sending out the message that lactating mother’s should eat right in order for them to give their child the needed nutrients through breastfeeding”.
This year’s celebration theme is “Isulong ang Breastfeeding: Tama, Sapat at EKsklusibo (TSEK)”, that aims to equip parents, especially mothers, on the importance and the benefits of breastfeeding.
Participants were also treated to a sumptuous and healthy snack courtesy of SM City Marilao. SM Foundation Inc., on the other hand, donated set of books to the 25 participating day care centers for the students to read and share.
Another project in line with the Nutrition Month celebration, DepED Bulacan is initiating a poster making contest that promotes exclusive breastfeeding and a personality search dubbed as “Kid Listo, Breastfed Yata Ito” that is open to public and private school in Bulacan. The DepEd activity is happening on July 27, 2011 at the Event Center of SM City Marilao.
The month of July is designated as Nutrition Month by virtue of Section 7 of Presidential Decree 411. This is to create greater awareness among the Filipinos on the importance of nutrition, focusing attention on making informed food choices and developing sound eating and physical activity habits.
